I have got to remember that I have Lupus. Which means that I really need to start staying out of the sun. Not only does the Plaquinil make be burn baby burn and not in a good disco inferno way - I go sleepy bo boes for a long time and itch to buggery where the sun gets me....
My parents no longer have a car, as their health really does preclude them from being behind the wheel. So, at least I no longer have to worry about that. But I do have to be available to take them places that their little scooters cannot take them. This is no big deal, they did plenty for me all their lives, and it's nice to be able to return the favour to those you love.
Unfortunately, we went out to a few places looking for scrap timber and an old sturdy table for Dad to use a s a work bench. Which required me to heave around our trailer by myself (Darlinge was out) and do lots of driving and walking around in 37 degree (c) sun. After two hours of THAT, I came home, feed and watered the kids and announced that I was going to lie down for a while.... Cut to three and a half hours later....
That really is scary. Time. Gone.
I am teaching the kids to use our old Kodak digital cameras. They are having a lot of fun. The last camera I purchased was a complete dud, insofar as whilst it had 5 mega-pixels, it only had digital zoom, not optical zoom, and was therefore screamingly useless at taking the sort of shots that I want to take of products for the shop, pictures of trees and plants that I want to incorporate in quilts and other textile adventures etc.
So I have cheated on my beloved Kodak. For the first time in my entire life, I have purchased a.... CANON. This one (for the same price as the Kodak) has 4x Optical Zoom, 5 mega-pixels and has much better 'hand feel'. It also has a bloody lens cover.
Man, the poor guy at Hardly Normal did not like me. (A) I interrupted him whilst he was in the middle of chatting up a pretty young thing. (B) I knew what I wanted and it was only $124. (C) I had the unmitigated gall to refuse their super wonderful offer of a camera pack, an extended warranty and a bigger memory card, not once, but TWICE.
I am I a rude old cow or what!
How dare I stand there outwardly bland and patient (while inwardly fuming) listening to the most legless chat-up lines since "So, you come here often?"
Why do I need their $138 camera pack, when I already have a battery charger, camera bag and a bazillion and one SD cards lying around.
Why, when I have only spent $124 on a camera that comes with 12 months warranty already, want to extend that warranty for another 12 months for $30+?
But the best of all was why would I want to by a 1gig SD card for close to $50 from them, when (a) we already have a plethora at home, and (b) you can get them from Harris Technology down the road for quite literally a third of the price?
Am I really being so unreasonable?
I really do fear for the people who have no other option but top buy from this sort of store. The only reason they survive is that they pay peanuts (commission) to these poor sales people, and they have their no deposit, no payments and we'll extend credits to anyone who bloody asks... SO of course people flock there for over-inflated prices and crap service.
Meh. Now I think I am getting to be a cranky old cow...
Oi Vey! It's 7.00pm and my children are playing 'flight of the hampster' and have not yet been fed, let alone teeth brushed and in to bed! Eeeek!
